Chuck E. Cheese token from 1982. This token is from the "Pizza Time Theatre" era of the company, and features the phrase "IN PIZZA WE TRUST". These tokens, which were first released with the Chuck E. Cheese brand in 1979, were the primary form of currency used to play arcade games at Chuck E. Cheese restaurants for many years.
In 2016, Chuck E. Cheese began phasing out physical tokens in favor of "Play Pass" cards, which function as a tap-to-play system. Although most stores have switched to this card system, some international locations and a few games still use tokens.
